In a very sad incident last week, poachers in Botswana killed more than 500 vultures by poisoning the elephant carcass they were eating. While this happened in Africa, the vultures of India are not safe either. Since the 1980s their population has only seen a downward trend with most of the species found in India showing a decreasing population trend and threatened.
