A snake species endemic to Indian subcontinent, the red-tailed bamboo pit viper is found in the North-eastern states, Myanmar and Bangladesh. A poisonous snake, bites from this species result in intense local pain and swelling. The IUCN red list marks the species as Least Concern but extreme deforestation has begun to destroy the snakes native habitat.
