Flame of the Forest: Butea monosperma

Tesu, Palash, dhak, known by many names in India, the Flame of the Forest (Butea monopserma) is a flowering plant best observed in the months of January to March when the curved beak shaped flowers cover the entire tree. In olden days the same flowers were used to make colours for the Festival of Holi in the country.
