Forest officials of Assam are having many a sleepless nights as they work non-stop to transfer the animals of world renowned sanctuaries like the Kaziranga national park to safer locations. The park known for its population of one horned rhinos was severely affected after flood waters submerged almost all of the forest area.
250 more Rhinos in Assam
Conservation efforts at Assam’s Kaziranga National park are finally bearing fruits. As South Africa struggles with poaching threats to its rhino population, the Indian rhinos seem to be thriving with at least 250 more Rhinos recorded in the Assam sanctuary over a three year period.
One horned Rhinos to be saved from Annual Floods
To save the One-horned Rhinos from the annual floods of the river Brahmaputra in Assam, the state is all set for trans-location of the animals from Kaziranga national park to Manas Tiger Reserve.
Elephants Saved from Being Hit by a Train in Assam
Thanks to the quick thinking action of a patrolling team a herd of 15 elephants was recently saved from a fatal collision with a train in the deepor beel railway stretch near Guwahati in Assam. The patrolling has till date prevented 80 accidents of such kind in the state.
