In a first for the Dahanu coast, Maharashtra, the Mangrove Cell of the forest department has fitted a satellite tag on an Olive Ridley turtle to track its journey from the shoreline. Named Dhaval Lakshmi, the turtle was found entangled in a fishing net sometime back in August. The department treated the turtle and released it back into the sea to get valuable information about its migration routes, foraging grounds etc.
